Is there a way to set extension to have the mic's off at the start of a speakerphone call?

Thanks in advance

I would wonder what you are trying to accomplish.

Yes, if you press the MUTE button, the MIKE would be off.

Are you trying to "listen in"?

If you are, there are better ways to do that....

Well, actually the problem is that usually if someone uses the speakerphone to dial a call, a lot of times the number is dialed incorrectly. However, if we use the speakerphone again, mute the microphone, and then press "redial," the call goes through correctly. Only thing I can figure as that due to the handfull of noise that is in certain parts of our building, it causes a problem while dialing. I know on Toshiba phone systems, there is an option that you can program on a per-extension basis, that if a person hits "speaker" to use their phone, the microphone will turned off until they turn it on. Just curious if I had the same options.

No, afraid not.

As I said, you have to press the mute manually.

In fact, in Magix R2.2 and 3, you can actually start to dial w/o pressing the speaker phone button at all.

With the "HOT DIAL PAD" Feature, when you start dialing a number, the speaker comes on.

If you have a direct appearence of a line, it does not connect to the facility UNTIL you finish dialing and then press POUND, thus no outside interference.

However, if you are in a DIAL 9 mode, w/ARS it connects to the facility as soon as you have entered enough digits for it to figure out what ARS pattern/facility you need.

Lot's of luck.

One other thing I rememembered.

The Microphone on these sets is located under the RIGHT HAND CORNER, sort of underneath the bottom of the set below the POUND SIGN.

Sometimes accoustics can be improved (and some echo dampened) by placing the MLX Set on a rather SOFT Mouse Pad.

Thank you for the insight, and the tips as well.
