in the latest microcode SF240_284_201 description there is for example:

System firmware changes that affect all p5 and i5 systems:
HIPER: A problem was fixed that caused the system to crash with SRC B150D133. A system dump is generated as a result of the problem (SRC B181F03B).
HIPER: A problem was fixed that caused the system or partition to crash when corruption was detected in low memory.
HIPER: A problem was fixed that caused I/O paths to be deconfigured after certain types of failures, indicated by SRC B170100A, until no I/O paths were left. The firmware has been changed so that the I/O paths are no longer deconfigured under these circumstances.
DEFERRED: A change was made to improve the reliability of system memory. This change reduces the likelihood of SRC B123E500 occurring, and also reduces the likelihood of a system crash with SRC B1xxF667.

please tell me how to understand DEFERRED: point there?

I have just following errors in P55A and would like to know if the microcode upgrade will fix it.

SRC: B123E500
Description: Memory subsystem including external cache Predictive
Error, general. Refer to the system service
documentation for more information.

Call support.

They'll probably tell you this will fix it, but its best to call and ask. I had a B121E500 two weeks ago on a P55A and it ended up being a processor that needed replaced. They first told me to upgrade the microcode, then took a closer look at the processor.

I had the exact same description as yours "Memory subsystem including external cache predictive Error, general.

thx hfaix, I will contact support then.

P5+ have had all sorts of DDR2 issues. They'll probably ask you to upgrade the firmware and then wait to see it you get another hit. If you don't - no problem. If you do, they'll replace the dimm.

If you have access to ASM (which you should from the HMC), you can check to see if any RAM has been deallocated. This might be another indication.

Let me know if you want to know the steps to check for deallocated ram. It's fairly straight forward to find once you're logged in (I just can't remember off the top of my head).
