damber,

Interesting article. I wonder when we will start seeing Microsoft prices in "Euro" here.

While this is not a political forum, really???

This recent war isn't even a pimple on a gnat's ?? as a % of the National debt.

You should really study the authors of the major giveaway programs that have us where we are.

rvnguy,

You're right, US markets have been on this trend for quite a few years now - war or no war, there are issues in the US economy that have deeper roots than a single 'blip' on the budget from recent military initiatives. Though there have been a few initiatives to be fair..! ;-)

I live in the UK, where the Pound (GBP/Sterling) is stronger than the EURO - and where many people still think we'll never join the EURO - maybe because it looks like monopoly money, though probably because of some patriotic hope of being forever British...

When the UK joins the EURO, the EURO is likely to gain a significant amount of momentum... it makes you wonder what's around the next corner.

And I found this an interesting view because it's from someone who undoubtedly has an army of accountants and financial managers guiding him on world trends and 'good decisions'...

damber,

The UK, well the Pound has been fairly strong and stable for some time.

This is not a huge statement from Mr."G", as there are many persons that trade in currencies. When you have the volume of funds that he has, it makes sense to move them at will. If through a trade he makes a tenth-of-a-percent well that is a good day. For me it would not even buy a pint.

Is there serious talk about joinning the Euro?

This could be a double edged sword.

Cheers

Given that american politicians have been avoiding the topic of national debt for as long as I can remember, maybe the market can make a change by forcing the issue through financial pressure. After all, nobody like to see his national currency drop into the gutter.
I don't think that a country should manage its finances any differently than a person, and I don't live with more debt than my income can handle. Furthermore, I know that I will have dealt with my debt before I retire, and my children will not have to suffer that burden. I think a country should manage itself the same way - even if the scale is much larger than I can comprehend.

pmonett,

Well you have "Hit the Nail On teh Head" so to speak.

There are many individuals (voters) tha feel the same way. At times I believe that it is more like having a tiger by the tail.

All things in scale: 100,000 to me is just that, To Mr. "G", maybe its like 1,000; to a country this size maybe 1.00
