Many companies sell an HP4300 MICR printers for around $3000 plus. I am wondering if this is just an HP4300 with a MICR toner or is there more to it than that?

Please help.

Richard

It is in fact a regular HP 4300 that has got one or more NON-HP parts (inside) including the toner replaced by another brand than HP. They are modified with parts inside to fit the toners of Micr. I am not sure HP likes this, and I have passed this info on for investigation.

Some HP printers offer MICR capability via add-on solutions provided by what appears to be a valid, and supported, HP 'partner' - see for details.

As well as MICR capability, this site also offers a 'print PDF direct' feature for modern HP devices.

The printengine itself is fully supported by HP, while any third party add-ons like toners are supported by Micr. This must lead to some confusion and problems when support is needed if fx. a problem has occured in the printengine due to third party add-ons. Luckily as far as I know, these printers only seems to be in operation in the states and not in Europe.
