Hi all.
I would like to install Micollab where there is no domain. Is it possible to use the default domain mycompany.local and will this affect Micollab users connecting from outside the network(internet)? MBG in server-gateway mode has a public IP address.

MiCollab need to match your fqdn for MiCOllab Client to work properly.

So juste gave the micollab a host name and domain that match your fqdn and it will work.

will an FQDN like micollab.mycompany.local work for Micollab users connecting from the internet?

NO, micollab need a FQDN that can be resolve on the internet with a valid certificate.

The domain that MiCollab uses needs to be publically resolvable. And you need to own the domain yourself.

Otherwise there is no way to route from the Internet to your infrastucture.

And you can't buy/get security certificates unless you own the domains.

The .local top level domain will never work:

Wikipedia - [URL unfurl="true" said:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.local[/URL]]As local is an officially reserved special-use domain name[9] (RFC 6762 of February 2013)[10][11] host names with this top level label are not resolvable in the global Domain Name System.

If you are looking to connect in user using Traditional Client, then it's not a problem.
As long as you have your external DNS is set to resolve to the public IP.
Inbound connection via Traditional client does not do any SSL cert check, hence will allow you to connect.

If you are looking to use NextGen client, then you have a problem as NextGen being primarily web-based will query SLL Cert on connection and if there's a mismatch between you Enterprise Domain set on the server and the SSL Cert uploaded, you run into all sorts of issues.
