Hi,
I was trying to see if there is a way to deploy the new MiCollab client PC app. I guess it's considered the 'NextGen' client or MiCollab R8.
Anyway, it seems to get that to work properly, you need DNS to be properly configured before it will work and deploy properly (i believe it deploys via Mitel Remote Deployment Server). Does a client need DNS for this client to work properly in anyone's experience? Or in anyone's experience, can you use it if the network doesnt have proper domain DNS and/or no external DNS records?

I was able to use MiCollab Client 7.3 perfectly fine as it doesnt require a remote deployment server and just the username/password. (I used the good ol' hosts file in this case).

you dont need public DNS to make this work
internally the micollab will need a dns entry .
easiest way to register the client is to install it

then loginto the web version on the same PC and use the self deployment QR code ( click on it)
this pushes the registration details to the client

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

NextGen Client and Traditional client both uses DNS resolution to connect to the MiCOllab Server.
You just need the PC that you are connecting from to be able to resolve the FQDN either by way of DNS entry or Host file.
This is for both internal and external connection , provided you have split DNS for inter/external IP address resolution.
