Former Monty Python Michael Palin now spends his time traveling and documenting his travels. His BBC-produced series have aired in the U.S. and they have been uniformly marvelous.

He's made all of his travel books online at

Michael Palin is a multi-talented man. For those who don't know his work well or only from Monty Python I heartily recommend:

A Private Function
G.B.H.
and
Ripping Yarns

amongst many.

Of course he is, Steve. He's a Yorkshireman!!

Cool, thanks for letting us all know. I've been meaning to get the Himalayan one for a while now.

Ah........ next B'day then Sha?????

That's going to confuse any non-TTUKers! For the uneducated Green & Black (G & B) are makers of very good chocolate.
Yep, do like travelling, (managed Tallin (Estonia), Cork, Prague and Brussels since Dublin, plus another birthday), wish I had the time & budget of Micheal Palin though! Himalayas may be a while off & I'm a bit scared that if I ever see Everest I'll start wanting to climb it!

Call me crazy (you wouldn't be the first, so there's no trophy or anything) but I always thought Monty Python's cartoons were goofy and unnecessary.

These guys are funny as hell, so why waste their time on goofy cartoons?

My favorite (amongst impossible competition): the dead parrot, who is said to be not dead but only "pining for the Fjords." Classic!

Hey Tim!
Thank you! I thought it was just me! As a Python fan for more years than I care to remember, I've always been more than a little ashamed that I didn't like the animation very much - some of it is exceedingly funny, but most of it is a bit of a let-down. I've always felt "Yes, yes, we get it, Terry's a genius, but can we get on with the sketches?"
Thanks!

I'm shamelessly hijacking this thread to cover spelling ......... So apologies up front.

ELANOR Correct spelling of that name ???????
Only ask as I have my Mum who is ELEANOR and a cousin is ELINOR .................. Same???

RCorrigan,

My recollection, which is at least as dependable as a Yugo, is that "Elanor" was appropriated from Sam Gangee's daughter in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. I like it.

Hi RCorrigan!
Yugos must be dependable, because Tim is correct - I took Elanor from the Lord of the Rings. It means "sun-star" (El=star, Anor=sun) and is the name of a small, yellow flower, the inspiration for Sam Gamgee's daughter's name. I kind of wish it really was my name!
Thanks!
Elanor

To paraphrase Sir Isaac Newton: An apple, falling upon my head, demonstrates the concept of gravity. However, that Yugos suck is NOT an instance of gravity. It's just, uh, poor [blue]car[/blue]pentry.

Someone bring me tea.
