School office staff use the "voice" softkey feature to call an extension and have it go to speaker so a teacher doesn't have to actually answer the phone. This has worked great for years...until now. Now when they dial an extension and press "voice" both mic lights turn off so no one can hear anything. I personally turned the mic light on for two phones close to each other and when I used the voice feature you couldn't hear anything because the mic lights went off. This is district wide (three schools) and they are not happy! I was told to reset the phone system - no difference.

I also tried dialing an extension and adding a 1 and I could hear the tone for paging a classroom, but again the mic lights went out.

They have an 8300 system using old Series E phones.

The only thing that changed over the summer was the switch from a T1 to a PRI. Could that have had anything to do with it?

There is a class of service setting that turns the mic off when called.
CMD 15099

Thank you Belevedere. I checked class of service 15099 and it was set at "not available" so I don't think that is the problem. Any other ideas?

This is only for a system reset;
CMD 08>301 When system is reset 0 = Multiline Terminal MIC lamp ON
1 = Multiline Terminal MIC lamp OFF

Try 15099 set opposite to what it is now. Maybe your software level and the book are backwards.
Also check to see if all classes are the same.
