I've been experiencing some different behavior with some documents (viewed via Internet Explorer) for the past few weeks. When I launch some of the links, it is inserting an "mhtml" in front of the address.
It shows in my browser as mhtml: but when I hover my mouse over the hyperlink, it actually displays as .

I have tried manually entering the address, but it repeatedly inserts the "mhtml" in front and it treats it as an invalid page (page cannot be displayed).

I have removed my File Type association for MHTML and removed panagon from my zone intranet settings, but cannot get it functioning.
There are a number of other systems set up as mine and they can open the pages without this problem. Is there a setting that I am missing or something?

2 things you can try .

Repair IE & SFC to see if you have a corrupt file or a version has been replaced by another install , it may not be compatable .
You may even have to use SFC in the manual selection .

--------------------------------------------------------

Try choice 2 .

W95 you have 3 choices . With W98 , if you have IE5.1 or higher & you
still have IE4 installed the following applies . No IE4 only 2 choices .
IE5.5 if over the top of 5.1 , offers 3 choices .

You can install IE5.1 straight over 4 . A big feature with IE5 is that
it can be repaired without uninstalling . Here is how to do it . Open
Control Panel , Add / Remove , click on Microsoft Internet Explorer ,
then click on add / remove down the bottom . This opens a window with
3 choices .

Choice 1. Add , insert your IE5 install program & you can find other
items you may not have installed 1st time .

Choice 2. Repair , fixes problems that may crop up with IE5 / Outlook

Choice 3. If unfixable , removes IE5 & goes back to IE4 , now if you
want to you can reinstall IE5 or a later version or another browser
altogether .

No Microsoft Internet Explorer in Control Panel !
Start > Run , key in msinfo32 and press Enter . Click on Tools > IE Repair Tool or Start >
Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information . Click on Tools > IE Repair Tool .

Internet Explorer Repair tool from a command prompt:
Click Start , and then click Run .
In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK :
rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE5Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt"
NOTE : This command is case sensitive.

W2000 > Start > Run
then enter exactly (copy & paste)
rundll32.exe setupwbv.dll,IE5Maintenance
this will give you the IE Repair dialog... proceed to repair IE

Repair IE6

Thanks for the help, I'll try the repair and get back to you. Sorry to sound ignorant but what is SFC?

I tried both procedures to repair IE and she still has the problem. She can open the links fine from another workstation. Have deleted all cookies and temp files on her machine and she still can't open the archived pages without mhtml popping in front of the address.
She is reluctant to blow away her profile and creat a new one. Any other ideas?
