Hello!
I wonder if you can help me...
I'm a newbie in sendmail and I'm trying to configure it, just to me to be able to send mails from my PC to the Internet.
Well, the only thing I've changed in the default sendmail.cf is the line :

"# "Smart" relay host (may be null)
DS[my_proxy's_IP]"

The fact is that everytime I try to send an email I get the following error:
"Mhost map: lookup (mail_domain): deferred"
and it is not sent...
Can you give me a clue?
Thanks!
Mariana

I had the same issue. Make sure DNS is setup on the server so it can resolve the email address. This is what I did and immediately connected to our SMTP Exchange server.
smitty, communications, TCP/IP, Futher Config, Server network services, other available services, named subsystem the start it...this the cause of the error, that it won't know how to resolve the names in the email. hope this helps.
