I've got sendmail working on a test machine running the same OS Version AIX5.1/8.11.0. I'm sending only outbound mail to an SMTP server (in the USA) to re-route it for internal email (MS Exchange) On my test system, I only made 2 changes in the sendmail.cf file, added DSSMTP:smtpservername and DMcity.company.com. Works perfectly.

On my other servers running HACMP, the hostname does not reflect the IP address. I've tried everything by adding any name that it needs to lookup in the /etc/hosts file, same results, "lookup deferred". Can someone tell me exactly what its not being able to do since I do have it working at another site? When I use the mail command, I use this format: email user@city.company.com

Is there something I need to tell my Netowork admin to add to his DNS servers? Any feedback would be appricated.
