I've been told that MGCP + SRST are mutually exclusive, however some of the docs on CCO suggest otherwise. Has anyone actually tried this combination and had any success or failure? If so what version of IOS / SRST etc were you using? Any hitches?

You can do this. The minimum I have used is 12.2.9T so any of the current versions available now would word fine.

I have used MGCP gateways in remote sites and had the phones fail over to the WAN router, which was running SRST. The big rub was that MGCP doesn't support SRST and I had to manually make dial-peers. So, in essence, MGCP and h.323 are used for the voice gateways.
