IS-IT--Management
Hello everybody, i'm new to tek tips forum.
I'm work in IT management for a small company here in italy since 6 months where we have an LG MG100 with about 70 phones (mix of digital lg proprietary from promelit and analogic phones).
I don't know very whell the mg100 system, all i know is from internet, some powerpoint slides that i found online and the manual that also i found online.
Actually the mg100 is mainteined by who installed the system (another company) and them didn't want to share the login credential to force us to work only with them (things that i didn't approve).
How mg100 is configured:
we have 2 brib4 card interfaced to the operator router (is a trunksip system: hdsl to a cisco router, then 4 VIC-2BRI-S/T-TE cards) via 6 isdn cables (for a total of 12 landlines). The 4 voip channels available default on the mg100 are used to connect another ipecs system (an emg80) of a remote place.
The problem is that:
we have about 40 cisco 303 phones SIP that we want to use. The company who installed the system say me that i need a license for every sip phone (about 70€/lic). I'm trying to find an alternative that is not so expensive. My idea was to interface a software pbx that i know (like asterisk of freepbx) to the mg100 and create a trunk between the 2.
The other company says that it isn't possible.
My question is: i have 2 spare ports for a total of 4 lines on a brib4 card. Due to the fact that i cannot use the 4 voip channels as they are used for the intersite communication, Can i use the 2 bri ports to create a trunk with a freebpx and a two port bri pci card? Can the mg100 do that?
Another question that who installed the system was unable to respond: if i buy 40 license for my voip phones, why i need for a VOIB card to handle voip calls and no hardware to use 40 voip sip phones?
thank you all
