MFC 3380 & D-LINK DP-301P+

Am trying to network install a 3380 which is connected using a DP-301P+.

The install does not pick up the printer - have used IP address, MAC address, server name but no joy ..... it does however pick up another 3380 that is hanging off a PC !!!!

Does this mean that the DP-301P+ is getting in the way?
Would it work if it were an HP Print Sever (JetDirect 175x or similar) ?

OK, the 3380 does not come standard with an ethernet port. Therefore you already have a jetdirect card in the printer. Did you set an IP address on the printer? Can you ping that IP?

I've no idea what a DLINK DP-301P+ is, nor do I have the time to research it. If you could state what it does that would help determine whether it might be interfering.

Suspicion that your dlink is the problem. It needs to be configured to fit on your network.

Another "Alice in Wonderland" product. When it is set up correctly it works great.

Once the network stuff is good the printer setup will show up as networked to a computer "dlink" and the printer name you have assigned.

The D-Link is a substitute for a jetdirect box.

If I set the ip to one on the network it works (to a point), I can print, ping, share etc. ---- the install issue was sorted by pre-loading the driver rather than letting the install disk discover the printer.

The problem now is how does scanning work ???

The printing side is fine - standard tcpip port, bingo.
The faxing side is fine - phone line, bingo.

Scanning ........ not able to see anything to scan to.

Is this at all possible (either with a dlink or jetdirect box) ????
