method 'currentdb' of object'_application' failed - Help needed

When I try to run a query via the DAO I get the following error...

method 'currentdb' of object'_application' failed

followed by
"-2147024770"

I've checked references and the DAO is not missing, I've taken out the ActiveX references - still get the error.

I've installed the latest MDAC files from Microsoft.

Can anyone help ?
