I increased the size of a EMC SAN LUN using a MetaLUN.

Now the diskinfo shows the added space. The pvdisplay does not. I am unable to run the lvextend to add the space to the lv... Is there something that needs to be done?

We have Online JFS, but HP support can only come up with deactivating and removing the VG and recreating. Guess they think a pvcreate is needed to pick up the changes...

If you have created MetaLUNs in the past... Let me know what I am missing...

Thanks.

I have a horrible feeling that HP doesn't like having it's LUNs resized ...

EMC talked to their HP-UX guru and he said the same thing. The size of the "Disk" is hard coded in the descriptor and cannot be changed... So do not use MetaLUNs to increase the size of a filesystem.... What are they good for then, I have no idea....

metaluns are for operating systems like windows. Windows has no volume manager (in fact it has one, but ...), so increasing the size of a volume is a solution to that problem.
