I have a Windows Server 2003 network and use a Metaframe Server to allow users to log into network remotely. My doubt is if I can disable metaframe server and provide remote access using Remote Desktop Connection of windows server 2003.

What is the difference between both? wich is the better solution?

thanks.

you can use just Remote Desktop if it's a small number of users

A Citrix Metaframe server accepts both types of client connections, Remote Desktop and Citrix ICA client

why wouldn't you want to use the Metaframe server if it's already in place? Here's a good comparison between ICA and RDP...

Metaframe Server works fine, the idea to not use it anymore is to use the server hardware for another application like e-mail server. So, if RDC is enough for my network, I will replace.

This comparison is very helpfull and will help me to decide.

Many thanks.

Now why would you want to do that. Lets see XPS at 15 licenses probably cost around 10K to put in and install and get working. An e-mail server will cost what.....5K, whatever.

Me, I would be putting in extra hardware, not recycling an old thing.
