Metaframe XPa FR1 to Presentation Svr XPe Issues?

Hi there

As always any help gratefully received.

I am about to upgrade our existing MF XPa FR1 Farm (4 svrs) to Presentation Server XPe. Before I pull it all apart, I would like to know if anyone has any advice they think may be of help.

ANy best practice or considerations would be very helpfull.

Fairly straight forward.

Install the Presentation Server License server on another (no Citrix) machine.

Get everyone off.

Upgrade the first server in the Citrix farm (if you are using local db)

Upgrade the rest.

Under no circumstances should upgrade any other server first if you are running local DB becuase it will corrupt the db and prevent the rest of the servers upgrading(speaks the voice of experience who had a client do this last week).

Yup Then you will have some fun with your licensing.

Youo need to fulfill your licenses up to PS3. You should also have and UP code from Citrix that provides the upgrade license count. I had no end of problems getting this to work at a customer site.

It was a Citrix fault with their UP- licenses, so beware. Eventually Citrix had to go and alter their databas to make it give me my license file for the Upgrade.

Many thanks for your feedback. Thought this might be a swine. I had a pretty big Licence Problem Upgrading from NT TSE the last time.
