Metaframe XP Publishing Desktop Instead of Apps

We had one XPs server publishing a few applications that ran fine. I added an additional server to the farm from another subnet and now Citrix publishes the desktop instead of the applications. Is there a know problem with adding a server from another subnet to a given farm?

We have also just finalized our conversion to Active Directory, and are seeing some errors there. Which I also think are causing some of our problems. Any comments?

Thanks for any assistance provided.

hi,
When Metaframe XP was announced, the major differences
that were showed vs Metaframe 1.8 were:

- Improved printer management
- Possibility to create a Farm across different networks

( In MF1.8, comunications between servers of the farm,
are obtained by broadcast, then is difficult or impossible
comunicate across different networks;
Metaframe XP, does not use bdcst to update data store
informations, but the farm knows the servers ip-address.)

However XPs, if I don't wrong, has not the load-balancing capability, that you can find in XPa or XPe.

bye

The problem could well be DNS resolution related. Although XPs does not have Load Management, support for published applications should not break just by adding a server to the farm.

If you check the apps on the server you created them on, does the same path exist? Could be that somehow the LHC has become corrupt - you could try running dsmaint recreatelhc (after stopping the IMA service!).

Farms can span subnets - and so can zones, so I don't think it's specifically related to the subnet it was in.

Hope this helps
