We are running Citrix Metaframe xps on a Windows 2000 server. When users connect, it seems they can all see each other's local printers. How do you prevent that? Any help would be most appreciated, thanks.
We use security groups in AD and controlled access that way, by sharing the printers with only the group(s) who needed the printer. I then rebooted the Citrix servers over the weekend, deleted all of the autocreated printers shown on the server. That resolved our problems.
Well, the real problem is with home users. When they log in via Citrix, everyone can see their local printers at home. Is there any way to prevent that?
In Active Directory, you stop the client printers from being connected at log on. In Active Directory, go to the User/Properties and click on the environment tab. You can make the change there. Next time they log on, they won't see that home printer.
Thanks for the tip, unfortunately we don't have AD set up, and to do so would mean taking the box down (which we can't do right now)...I'm hoping there's an alternative.
Well, you may be in a pickle. However, if your home people are using RDP and your other business users use ICA, you could disable the client printer connection in the RDP properties. Remember, changing it at that level affects all logins.
