Metadata updated with LAPI

Hey Guys,

Is there a possibility to update metadata using LAPI. I need to update, what a belive is a custom metadata field. I can not find appropriate ObjectInfo Attribute.

just for more info. In the xml export the field appears as

<systemattribute AttrLen='42' AttrName='AA_Contributor' AttrType='1' DispName='Contributor' DispType='Field' IsEditable='false' IsSystem='true' Required='0'/>
