I want to block just one page that sits in the root of my site. This page has a link to a word document which is really what I am trying to block. Which method, meta tag on the page that has the link to the word document or a robots.txt file like:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /download.htm

Which is the page that has the link on it. Please any comments or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks,
Stan

if you want the search engines to ignore a page then robots.txt is more reliable than using meta tags.

If you still want that download page to be indexed then just place the word document in the robots.txt file instead.
