meta tags and templates

Is there really no choice then to ender meta description and key words by hand in html when using templates? If so, it makes dreamweaver a real dud doesn't it?

Dreamwearver 4 has /Insert/Head tags that allows all the meta tags to be entered in WYSIWYG mode.
