Hi all.
Here's a problem that's really got me beating my head against a brick wall.
My brother has just got a new 3Gig Dell Dimension 8300 PC with XP pro installed. The trouble is that we use voice and video a lot as he lives in Norway and I'm in the UK, but can't get messenger to work properly. We have tried various versions of messenger but none of them will let him send video or sound. He can hear me talking and can see my video but I cant see or hear him. We can use all the other functions of messenger without fault - text, white board, file transfer etc. He has run the audio tuning wizard in messenger and set all that up sucessfully - he can also record and playback his own voice. We have both tried disabling the xp firewall but that makes no difference. We can still use voice through his old PC that connects to the net on a shared connection with his new PC - but the network is not causing the problem as we have tried it running alone. Finally - he has done a clean install of xp pro on his dimension 8300, only installing the necessary drivers for his system to run.

Can anyone please help - this is really driving us mad!!

Thanks

Paul

1. Download the newest version of Messenger, it is less than a month old.
2. Download Directx 9.0a
3. Enable uPnP on the machine; Add/Remove Programs, Windows Components, Network, SSDS Discovery Service, and uPnP client.
4. Enable uPnP on the router, if you are using one.

See if these shed any light on the situation.
