Hi

I have "overtaken" af network from a former employee
But it has serious problems...

Two nets are "bundled"

current setup :
Net1=192.168.1.x and net2=192.168.2.x are connected
in the same D-Link DES-1008 switch.

It is not possible to re-assign new IP adresses because
the are 4 PLC´s witch a hard-coded with there adress.

Is it possible to set and Linksys WRT300N router up and extract the 192.168.1.x net to an managed HP ProCurve 2626B (J4900B)switch ?

What kind of serious problems?

You can use a netmask of 255.255.254.0 (or shorter prefix) on the D-link and other hosts. But the PLCs are probably
hardcoded for 255.255.255.0 netmask (or other) which is probably breaking ARP for them and they may have a limited TCP/IP stack. However, if they are hard coded with standard class B subnet mask of 255.255.0.0, you are in luck, just use that netmask on the router and workstations and servers.

The HP switch won't solve your problem unless you don't need to communicate between the subnets. The WRT300N doesn't have the ability to set multiple subnets on the LAN side to my knowledge. Another router (not L2 switch) with the "other" subnet could be use to separate the subnets and then either enable RIPv2 or set static routes between the two individual routers.
