Hi does anyone know of a free corporate instant message type application? Does MS have anything that they do not charge for?

also if you can recommend anything that is affordable thanks.

Thank you.

You can setup a jabber server for free. Microsoft charges for there solution. It's called Live Communications Server.

You can also setup an IRC server for free if group chat is all you need.

You'll need to go through them and figure out which one meets your needs. I havn't setup a jabber server in like 8 years or so, so I can't tell you the difference between them.

I setup openfire. Works great and is free. AD authentication as well.
