Messaging Specialization: Exchange 2003 or 2007

Hey guys,

Once i become MCSA: 2003 Certified i plan on specializing in Security and Messaging. I will continue until i obtain MCSE, but the question is, should i get the exchange server 2003 cert or exchange server 2007.

Not to answer my own question, but i figured i would get the 2007, because i am sure it would test on the differences between the two, so if you know 07' then you should know 03'.

Anyone?

There is no MCSA: Messaging for 2007. 2007 has its own cert (MCTS?).

I did the 2003 MCSA: Messaging because that is what I support. I will probably also do the MCSE: Messaging for the same reason, then do the 2007 MCTS in Exchange 2007 before we upgrade.

The two mail systems are VERY different. I doubt it will be easy to pass 2007 just because you're good on 2003. Time will tell, I guess.

I did mine in Exchange 2003 as that's what I support and have knowledge of so was easiest to pass and the most relevant to me. If you don't support/admin either of them in your job and don't have much existing knowledge of either then I guess it makes most sense to go the Exchange 2007 route.
Part of the Exchange 2003 stuff covered upgrades from 5.5 so I imagine Exchange 2003 might get a mention in a 2007 exam but it won't test you on the differences and you shouldn't need to know many Exchange 2003 specifics just how you upgrade from it to Exchange 2007 (but you'll probably need to know Exchange 2003 roles as part of that).

Passing Exchange 2007 certs though doesn't mean you can admin 2003 without some further training/background reading.
