Hello,
I have this weird sporadic problem. Sometimes let's say I have 12 or 13 messages the previous day that I have read, deleted, and emptied the trash so they're out of my mail file. Then the next day they all show up again (with the previous day's date) as being unread? I have had this problem since version 5.08 and upgrading to 5.011 hasn't helped. It doesn't happen all the time (that would be too easy) so it's horrible to try to track down the problem. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
Andy

Maybe you are looking at a replica of your database without realising and the replication settings prevent deletions being replicated?
I have also seen messages "reincarnate" when there is a discrepancy between the person document and the location document (Person document says Mail Server: Mailserver1, location document says Home/mail server: Mailserver2).

I don't remember setting up a replica and in my location options (Office/Network) I have replication scheduling disabled. If I click on Replication -- history I don't have any history of a replica. Could I still have one or could it be running?

I didn't understand the 2nd part of your message. I looked in the location preferences and that contains the correct server. Where do you find out the location of the Person document?

Thanks.

Apologies if I get too basic here, but I'm unsure if you are an admin type or not -
To check your person document, click File, Database, Open, depending on you company set up, you will see any number of servers listed in the drop-down box, pick the one listed in your location document for the sake of arguement and type names.nsf as the filename. Open up the DB and find your person document, open it up and under the Mail tab, it will tell you what your mail server is, it should be the same as listed in your location document.

Replication "Disabled" in your location document only refers to automatic, scheduled replication, not the ability to create replicas. Not sure if a blank replication history confirms the absence of a replica or not.

The mail servers in both the person and the location documents are identical. I do have a replica on my PC that I remember messing with a while ago but I haven't done anything with it in months. I do leave my computer on with Notes usually up.

Thanks for the info and I don't mind you being basic. Sometimes it's the only way you learn.

Hi,

Usually it is some replication problem causing this. Deleting the local replica and re-creating it if necessary can solve this.

But sometimes you can solve this by deleting the file cache.ndk from your Notes data directory and then compact the workspace (Right-click on the WS, then choose properties).

I know: it sounds strange, but it really does work in some instances.

Kind regards,
