messages not clearing voice mail

I have a system setup that has several group boxes. When those boxes get messages, it emails the appropriate person, so those boxes are never physically checked at the telephone.

I have the housekeeping on the voicemail set to delete new messages after 30 days, but they dont delete. ??

also, I think I have never noticed it before but there are NEW messages and UNOPENED messages.. what is the difference?

If you have voicemail to email setup, and no one is actually checking the box, just change from copy to forward for the email option.

remind, if I clear the mailbox, does it delete all the messages and the personal greeting of the group box, or just clears the messages? They have 600 messages in this box, so its time to start over in a way. They want to stop the emails and just make the on duty managers monitor the mailbox.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "clear the mailbox". If you use a shortcode, or someone has visual access and you use the buttons, you could go in and delete voicemails one by one but retain the greeting. If you use the DTE port I believe it will wipe everything including the greetings. If your plan is to just delete files from the folder in embedded management then you would lose everything if you delete everything.
