Messages lost following "Cancel" during move

We have a user that inadvertently moved a folder in an Outlook archive. When the user clicked "Cancel" in the move dialog, all of the messages in the folder disappeared. The folder structure was maintained, but now we can't find the messages anywhere.

Has anyone seen this before or have any suggestions?

I have seen it before however, I fear this is a useless post. I never did find the missing e-mail after that. I'm of no help except to tell you that your not alone.
