Hi

We had a database that was running ok and is an ACCDE database.

Now when we try and open it we are getting a long message beginning with "The database cannot be opened because the VBA project contained in it cannot be read" etc.... (I get the same on my computer also)

As anyone got a know fix for this please. I have Googled this all day but cannot seem to get a fix.
Tried opening with shift key down, renaming access program names to old then re-opening access. All sorts but no luck.

Any ideas please.

Thanks

ACCDE is a compiled executable of the application.

The fix is usually to recreate it from the original source code (ACCDB)

You cannot open an ACCDE / ACCDR with the shift key down, it isn't an editable file format.

Yes unfortunately we cannot locate the original ACCDB database.

Thanks

unless there is someone who can reverse engineer an Access executable, you're pretty much screwed.

Is it in a location where you run VSS and can restore a previous version that might not be corrupt?

Hi

Hopefully will have an older version backup restored next week so fingers crossed this will work (IT department don't rush on these things)

This suggests that both computers are actually running the same file...is that true? If so, it may actually be the cause of your troubles. An Access database being run on multiple PCs simply has to be split into a Front End, with everything except the Tables, and a Back End, with all Tables.

Each user then has to have a copy of the Front End on his PC, with the common Back End on a shared drive.

Hope this helps!

HI

Sorry forgot to update this. We got a backup from 2 weeks before and restored. It was then working ok again.
The database must have obviously been corrupt.

Thanks for the replys
