Message Waiting on Cortelco analog phones

Help! We just migrated several users from an NEC IPX system to our Avaya switch. They had message waiting indicators on Cortelco analog phones that worked on the NEC but don't work on the Avaya. We're thinking that the phones may use either FSK signaling or neon, because it doesn't work on the LEDsetting in the Avaya switch.
Does anyone know how the message waiting lights are lit on a Cortelco analog phone?

Sorry you had to down grade those users to the Avaya.
Did you try googling Cortelco with the model number of the phone?
Open up the phone and look at the lamp. You'll see pretty quick what sort of lamp device it is.
If I had to guess I'd say neon.

Thanks, I found a switch setting on *some* of the phones to use either 90v or 24v for MWI.
