I am stuck in a situation where the clients message waiting light (5300) with not go out. He has to actually put in ext 9991 to retrieve gen mailbox messages. I cannot dial #53 for the ext 9991. ssome one suggested that the VM ports may be locked? Help

Check 5300, as well as 9991, 9992, 9993, and 9994. It may also be the MWI receiver for a calling group.

If you press Menu, you can look for message and see where it came from.

when I dial #53 then hit ( I get dial tone like I enacted a FAC I'll look into the MWI for a calling group

Thanks MM I dont have any messages in those boxes the only thing left is tge MWI for the calling group and I think I have to be on site and do the triugh winspm.

Of course, you can always CHEAT.

That is, you can just go to the phone, press menu > Messages > Delete Message.

That works great 'till it comes back, and 'till they figure out it was a message somewhere from their Biggest client......

Though rare, it could also represent fax notification.

FYI, the mode code to extinguish the light would be #*53, followed by the extension number. In my experience though, the process is #53xxx where xxx is the extension number in question (turn the MWL ON even though it's already turned on), then #*53 (pound star five three) followed by the extension number to turn the light off....the code to extinguish the light.

Whether it makes sense to put out the MWL light in this manner or not depends on what the cause is--which is what Jack is alluding to.

The console phone at my work looks like it has a message in it. The mailbox is lit up red. Ext 200. I've tried 9991, 9992, 9993 and 9994 and they all say no messages. I even tried Menu-delete messages and that light is still lit up. Anything else to try?

You could do a MAINTENANCE function to Clear the message lights.

But remember, that clears them all.

When you touch menu > messages, what does it show as the SOURCE of the message?
