On a G3iV3-386 I've got an extension that constantly has a message waiting light. In a newer release I recall being able to deactivate it via "cle amw all xxxx" but don't see that option in this system. Is there any other command or way to deactivate the light? I tried removing the phone from the port & reassigning it, same. When do a status on the 8410D it still shows: Message Waiting: spe

If the message is waiting in the spe, that's probably a LWC message. Likely someone activated the light accidentally by dialing the LWC codes.

Give your phone global message retrieval permissions (assigned on page 2 of the system-parameters features screens).

Add the LWC features buttons to your phone. (msg-retr, next, and delete-msg) to view and delete the messages assigned to the phone with the stuck message waiting lamp.

That should do it.

Carpe dialem! (Seize the line!)

can also do a 'clear amw all xxxx', where xxx is the ext in question. that will clear all current message notifications for that ext.

thanks, tim

Options 1, 2, and 3 are below:

1. You can assign a system global retriever and retrieve and delete the message.

Code:
display system-parameters features Page 2 of 16
                    FEATURE-RELATED SYSTEM PARAMETERS
LEAVE WORD CALLING PARAMETERS
Maximum Number of Messages Per Station: 5
Maximum Number of External Calls Logged Per Station: 0
Message Waiting Indication for External Calls? n
Stations with System-wide Retrieval Permission (enter extension)
    1: attd 7: 1234 13: 19: 25:

Now, give 1234 "msg-retr", "next", "delete-msg" buttons
go to station 1234 and retrieve and delete the message for the station in trouble.

2. You can reboot your switch.

3. It can be cleared by a software corruption engineer in the g3v3 software tables.

Thanks to all. I recall adding a key to the phone so I could at least see where the message came from, but didn't think of the delete-msg key.

Thanks, I added msg-retr, next, delete-msg to the phone to view the source & delete the indication. It was from some other phone. What threw me was the Next button on the top of the 8410 isn't the same as Next added to a key.
