Why on earth does my MWI programmed button on a 5220 IP set not go off if I have pressed the button and listened and deleted all the messages?

I am sorry for the silly way I posed this question, but am frustrated.

The MWI button is for an analogue extension that serves as a nightbell for a certain company. On no answer this nightbell forwards to voicemail.

When I press the button I dial into the voicemail, listen to the voicemail and delete the messages. The button however just keeps on flashing.

I have tried MWI deactivate FAC to that extension (nightbell) and still no luck. Any ideas. Maybe I am missing something on certain conditions of using this feature.

Try dialing the call sender of oldest message which if this is a 200 in form 2. The message waiting indication could be from someone who sent you a message with the send message feature. Try it and if you key in that code it will call the person who sent it to you and if they answer it will extinguish.

I had not issues duplicating this, and the message waiting lamp goes out when the message is deleted. Try pressing SuperKey and the MSG_IND button, see if it gives you more detail.

no detail by pressing the message button. just says no messages. the mwi button has been programmed on a 5220 IP phone. The prime line for the voicemail box is on an analogue phone.

matt not sure what you mean by test message waiting lamp...

In your button programming, what do you have it programmed as?

I am not familiar with the 3300, but does it have an access code to call sender of oldest message?

i don't know how to do it but i know from the console u can test the message waiting lights on phones if the COS is enabled and you dial some feature code.

Interesting command here, works on the 2K as well as the 3300:

LIST SHO FLIST FOR 9

This command shows how many message-waiting lamps are on at the time the command is given and how big the resource pool is.

I do not know if there is an equivalent command for the 200.

Addendum on the above.
The command does work on the 3300 but has to be given to the SX2K Call Control command line through the telnet interface.
The GUI doesn't understand it.

miteguy, I have the button programmed as a "message waiting indication". the directory number is that of my ONS line which in turn is the extension number on my mailbox for which I am monitoring the MWI.

Thanks for the command. will try it when i get back to site

I think you may have just answered your own question here.

Keyline MWI is only supported on multiline instruments and that much is documented.
I realize you have a key app of the ONS line, but MWI on an ONS set is accomplished differently than on an MLS set, is it not?

By contrast I think the multiline set version of MWI expects it to come down the message switch buss in the form of a "callback" message.

Anyone else? Am I out in left field (again) on this?

MMMMM, I don't think it matters what type of set (multiline, single line etc.) it is. I could be wrong.

I would delete the button, make sure all the msgs are gone (or saved) and then recreate it. See what happens then.

I will do a little research tomorrow on this. I can't see any reason why it shouldn't work.

I would like to know a couple of things.... 1. What release is on this 3300ICP? 2. What do you show for active features on this ext (loc fea ext XXXX)? 3. Does the MWI (either on a key or the "bar") on any other phone fail to clear?

I can't clear the button because the light stays on. there are no features programmed on the phone and I'm running a 3300 MX release 6.1.

No other device on the system has an indication of voicemail for this specific ONS extension.

I'll try and explain again...
because the extension is really a bell, I had to notify someone if there is a message in the mailbox for this ext. this someone is a 5220 button. to achieve this I programmed a Message waiting (line type) button on the 5220 for the ONS mailbox.

so whenever the mailbox for this ONS extension has messages then the system lights up the button on the 5220.

If I press the button then it dials directly into the voicemail box for the ONS extension. the problem is that eventhough there are no more messages in this mailbox, the light still flashes.

thanks for the responses so far

Try using the following command from any mitel phone..... *57 plust the extension number of the ONS line (i.e. if the ONS extension is 1234 then dial *571234).

i have posted this before a few months back ......

started of as a level 5 system and was told the usaul mitel answer ...upgrade upgrade.....now we are on the lastest level 6 software and still have the issue.
mitel have looked at the site remotely but can find any thing wrong.
weve also tryed the database on another controler and we dont get the issue.
