Trying to program a MWI key on a multiline extension for mailbox 450 and I get error "The directory number is in use elsewhere".

Mailbox 450 has as its extension "450" which is actually a Ring Group which forwards to 600 (EMEM), not a real extension. Should that matter or am I missing something?

Thanks.

MW button must be for a device on the server i.e station. Check definition of RING GROUP in system help files.

NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!

I don't see anything in the Ring Group definition that would not allow its corresponding voicemail box to be assigned as a MWI featured button on a multiline set.

Per the MWI feature instructions: "In the Multiline Set Key Assignment form, assign the Message Waiting Indication Line Type to the directory number of another set or mailbox number."

There's no mention of there being a restriction of the mailbox belonging to a device only. Does "...or mailbox" mean that it's either a mailbox with no device associated OR a mailbox WITH a device associated then?

You cannot associate a MWI with groups. ACD, Ring, Hunt, etc.

You have 2 options, terminate the call to a phantom extension prior to routing to the group and thus establishing the assoc DN to the phantom OR route the call after the ring group to a mailbox that can have a MWI via the proceedure in the following FAQ

Thank you for the clarification! Currently I'm terminating the main # to the group to be able to pop UCE on inbound calls. UCE will not pop on phantom ring.

So I'll probably add a single digit mailbox associated to a DN on my greeting instead of trying to take msgs on the Ring Group mbox.

LOL!!!

MWI will not work with single digit MB's either.

Route it to a standard MB.

Also, don't miss the fact that the 3300 needs a DN created that matches the mailbox or you can't set/create the MWI key.

Actually it worked with a single digit MB as long as you associate it to a valid programmed DN. Takes up a license but works as a general mailbox perfectly.

Right, as long as the DN is not a single digit.
