Hi all,

I want to know how can I apply Message Waiting Identification using analog set that does not have a lamp.

Any idea!!!!

Thanks in advance.

If you have a mailbox built, and MWA in the class of service of the set you will get stuttered dialtone.

per US Government DOD regulations, the terms to use are now:

uninterrupted dial tone - regular
interrupted dial tone - message tone

I will continue to call it stutter dial tone.

simple conversation:

"Can I get a MW indication with a lamp?"
"yes, it is stutter dial tone with MWA on in the CLS."

Gov conversation:

"I need a MW tone when I do not have a lamp."
"with MWA on in the CLS you will get Message tone."
"Message tone?, what is that?"
"a tone that tells you ya got a message."
"what does it sound like?"
"Stutter dial tone."

Grumpyone60, I think the term you need to use is "continuity-challenged dial tone". ;)

don't forget that you also need LPD in the class of service.
