I have 2 MLX etensions on a Legend R7 with message wait LED on & can't cancell them, tried "Feat.*38" from operator console, get reorder tone, also tried "Delete Message" from extensions, "no message to delete" comes up. what am I missing or doing wrong?
Thanks

I think i just found the answer in archives. A TD post back in june.
thanks
matt

Oops, That didnt work. I am still having the light. I did the Clear all MWI in maintance, and also checked the posts to make sure its not in DND or anything. When I did the clear all, all the lights turned off except the two phones. The one thing I didnt check was if the light would follow the phone or the extension. I didnt think about that until I was an hour away on my way home from the site. Are there any other possible solutions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If they're display phones - Press MENU, Then MSGS, and then DELETE, and that pesky light should go out, all you did was do a message waiting light clear on the system - you should do a fresh after that to turn back on the valid mailboxes with new messages.

However, if that pesky light comes back, there may be other things happening......

Let's just wait and see.

I did the message and delete, there are no messages at either of those phones. after doing the clear mwi, I did do the refresh, still the lights stay on. What else might be going on? Thanks.

You might try putting the Module out-of-service, test and restore and see if that helps. Also verify station wiring for any bad cords or cables and/or MLX phone.

Hope this helps!

I've run into a couple of MLX phones where I couldn't get the messaging waiting light to extinguish, and the problem was with the phones themselves. Definately have someone swap phones to see if it follows the phone or the port.

I wonder if the refresh MWI function (in Maintenance) affects the condition of the lamp if an extension is a receiver for either a fax or Calling Group. You might check to see if those extensions are involved in either of those cases as well.

I've also struggled with getting MWI lamps to go out after using System Renumber to effectively move around extensions. Any of that going on?

Last and most important--is this Legend networked with another PBX? If so, which side is the messaging system being hosted on?

thank you guys for the posts. I still havent gotten it fixed but I will try the tips in the last two posts next time I get there. They said the MWI wasnt that big of a deal because they know that those two phones do not have VM. They are an hour and a half away and they dont want to pay for any extra trips there. This system is not networked with any other so we know that isnt the problem. We did have to do a system renumber because we had to add a 408 to get enough extensions. We are not totally sure that these lights were not on before we installed it since the customer was given the phone system from there main company. I called and asked the main contact up at the site to move phones and let me know what happens, but he never called back, so you can see how important this really is.... But when I find out what the problem is then I will let you guys know. thanks for the help.

Ok. I just had the customer move the phone and see if it followed the phone or the port. It stayed with the port. So, now my question is, what are some of the possibilities now? I am still planning to check all the things that have been mentioned above, just not until the next time I am there. Any more possiblities would be great so we can get it fixed this next time out. Thanks for any help. Matt

Make sure that they are not using (or used in the past) multiple automated attendants where an extension is both a regular mailbox and the auto attendant (either 9991,2,3, or 4 I believe) mailbox. I have seen this happen before. Go into your voice mail admin and just check those mailboxes and see if they have any messages. That is something you can do remotely. Good luck - D

At the phone that has the light lit go off hook on the sa button and dial #54 #26. If it doesn't turn off do it again. For some reason you need to do it twice.

Ok, I am heading up to the site soon. I need to know if there are any reports that I can check that might tell me how, when, and/or why a message light may have come on? Is there a place in the manual or somewhere online that can show me what all the letters and numbers that print out are saying? Any help would be wonderful because this pesky light on both of these phones are getting to us. I will also try the #54, #26 and see it that works. Thanks....Matt

You could also check and make sure that two extentions are not listed as "message receiver's" for a calling group or groups.

TD, Would that print out on an extension report if it were set? I have printouts for the 2 extensions that we are having problems with, and I tried to get one that was working just fine to compare but for some reason when I got to the office to print it, it did not save. Is that call group message receiver programming system programming or voice mail programming. Its possible that if it is system programming that it could be set. We did not default the system(now we wish we would have) but we did default the Voice mail. This system was customer provided from one of the other facilities.Thanks.....matt

You would have to know the extention# of the possible calling group (that may be involved). Yes - that is programmed through system programming, under extentions, group calling, message. I believe you can print a report for Calling Groups - that would show that info - otherwise that section prints towards the end of the "Print All" report - after the last extention number in the system

Thanks, Next time I am connected to the system I will get that report.
