Has anyone seen where leaving a message in an MM mailbox then pressing # you hear "message too short"? I have a scenario with integration between a Nortel with Call Pilot menu transfer to an MM mailbox. Sometimes when messages are being recorded for the MM mailbox the caller hears 'message too short'.

I see in Ophist 'Statement 636' plays 'message too short'. I also see it in a vserver log.

It doesn't appear to happen when calling the extension/mailbox on the MM directly.

Any ideas where to look?

BTW, this is an MM 5.2 MSS backend on SP2 patch 1 build 9.2.224.2004. VMSC, Telephone User Interface, Message Timing tab setting is 1 second on Message length.

You can set this to 0 but then you will get blank messages if they hangup right away.

When you say that it only happens on a transfer are you saying that the message that was left was longer than 1 second ?

If to it sounds like the PBX is not sending answer supervision on the call but not sure at this point.

You get to the mailbox on the MM, hear the greeting and begin recording. After recording when you hit # you hear the prompt 'message too short'. Since you are in MM at the mailbox could this be an integration error from the switch or is it a registry setting in the MM for the voice string from this type of switch? Other ideas?

It sounds like their is no talkpath between the 2 of them. Or at least a one way talkpath and the mm can't hear the caller.

Would this be a problem on the Nortel or MM? If MM is it a registry setting?

i do not think it would be on the MM. What type of integration are you using on the MM ? If SIP or h.323 it would be a network region problem between the Call Pilot trunks and the MM trunks

SIP. What type of Network Region problem? Is there a table I should have checked on the Nortel?

Not sure but i do know that it sounds like a talk path issue. Is the MM on the same PBX as the CallPilot ? Or are they on different ones

Ken.. more info for you...
MM is using the SES for the SIP integration. Nortel Call Pilot routes to the CM then the CM goes through the SES to the MM.

Question: Should the caller hear the disconnect versus giving the appearance of recording the message?

when you say hear the disconnect i assume you mean the message it to short message right ? if so then that tells me that it is a one way voice path from the mm to the caller. So it still sounds like a network region issue
