The Secure_ Party_Number is just numbers. In the Formula Editor:mad:SecPtyNum,
I put this in
"(" + trim(uppercase({L.SECURED_PARTY_NUMBER})) + ")"

but when I go click on 'Check', it will say 'A String is required here'.

What do I have to do to resolve this? ..Thanks

Uppercase() must be performed on a string, and teh field you attempted to do this on is not a string data type. Try converting this field to a string with the totext() function. Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

If Secured_Party_Number is a number field, there's no point in using the UpperCase command at all.
