Hello,

Not sure wether this should go in the outlook or exchange section but here it goes.

When Recalling a message in Outlook is there a setting where it auto recalls the message without any user interaction the other end?

Help Appreciated

R

No user action is required on the part of the recipient. However, you should note that you can only recall messages that have not been read.

So in theory if you recall a message and the user has not viewed it, it will delete the message fromt the users mailbox automatically?
Is there a time frame for this as it does not seem to work.

Thanks richard

There's not timeframe as such; and because it's a client mechanism, it's prone to failure.

Look at it this way. The user receive da message saying 'such-and-such a sender would like to recall the message: important management announcement' (or whatever it's called). They want to recall it because they made an error or similar, but in fact all it does is flag the message up to the recipient - who is most likely to immediately want to know what's so sensitive about the original message - so they immediately read it. Hence the message recall doesn't work (because they've read the original), and you achieve the exact opposite of the effect you were trying to achieve.

hmmm, I think Microsoft may need to address the problem as the first thing you would do is open the dam thing like you said.

Thanks guys for your input

Cheers Richard
