Message or GIF while image / slideshow images are loaded

Dear All

I am developing a website wherein we need to give slide image show

Images are displayed one after the other with fade in and fade out

There are 20 images in slide show ....

Till these images are displayed there is just empty space and visitor cannot know tht image loading is in process

I want to show "Locading ...." message till all the images are loaded ...and slide show starts

or display some GIF which will indicate the images are being loaded....

please guide ...

Why should the visitor wait until all images are loaded just to see the first one ?

I would just start the loading in background and the slideshow. The first image will be displayed with some delay, but the second and the rest will probably arrive in time to be displayed. If not, you could just delay displaying that given belated image, keeping the previous one on the screen abit longer. Still better than annoying the visitor with messages.
