Message notification to a cell phone?

We have an AD-40 voice mail system connected to an IVS 2000. Currently on certain extensions I have message notifications going out to pagers. Is there a way to do the same for cell phones? I realize that it will call a cell phone, but I would like a text message to be sent. Can this system perform that function?

No, the AD40 will only call a cell, pager, etc. and send digits. No alpha characters.

I am assuming you just want to call a cell with Immediate message notification.

you would only be able to call the device, not send a digit message if thats what you want to do.

Yeah I was hoping to be able to send a digit message to a cell phone. We have techs that have cell phones, but not pagers. We would like to notify them much the same way as those with pagers, but we dont want them carrying both.

Kind of want to have our cake, and eat it too. Is there any solution, or is the solution simply a pager?

What would someone hear if it called a cell phone?

with Message Notification the voice mail would tell you you have a vm message and then ask for your sec code. You would then use the vm as you would onsite. It's actually a neat feature and I have set it up for many emergency hotlines, tech support etc.....

Yes you can send digits if you are using a cell phone provider like nextel that offers a message center # I use this for many customers including are own office, I send the users mailbox number as a page to the nextel.
