Hicom 300 w/ROLM PhoneMail v6.4

All phones have their message waiting indicator light on, making it impossible for them to know when they have a new message. Is this just a case of everyone onsite not deleting their voicemails, is this a known bug in the system, etc? If it's a bug, is there a ready solution? Thanks in advance.

You can turn on/off the MWI - Message Waiting Indicator for each phone if necessary from the system.
DIS-WABE:GEN,,,,MBOFF;

What ever code comes back you can dial that code and the extension number to turn off that lamp.

So if you want to turn off the lamp of extension 1234
And the MBOFF code is **555 for example.

From any analog phone
Dial **5551234 and the lamp of 1234 will go out.

I don't know how to do a lamp reconciliation from Phone Mail - maybe someone else here does.

It's been almost 6 years now... I'm not sure if there is a way for the normal site admin to to an MWI refresh in phonemail, or if you have to do it in SVI or SVU or whatever it's called...

I don't think anyone is going to execute me for this because the product has long been discontinued, but, and with **** DANGER: PLAYING AROUND IN THE FOLLOWING MENU SET CAN RESULT IN THE DESTRUCTION OF YOUR PHONEMAIL ****

Try logging in with un = tech and pw = field .... There is one more secret login but I can't remember what it is.
If memory serves me correctly you will be provided with an SVI command prompt.
Press c to "connect"
You should now be in the service menu - in here you can do naughty things like accidentally reformat your hard drive, wipe your whole system back to default, etc, and helpful things like check for port errors, reset alarm messages, chkdsk the HD for errors, and other system configuration things like setting mailbox length, timing and node parameters, etc. If there is a way to do an MWI refresh it might be in here. The Question mark ? is your friend in here, because it will relist menus and things like that. For some of the long ass commands you either have to type out the whole thing, or at least enough of it to make what you typed unique to any other command, and then it will guess the rest. I am not sure if you have access to backup your system from the regular admin login, but if not you can definitely back it up from here. I used to tell it to back up everything, including recorded names (except the actual messages) - it backs it up to glorious 3.5" diskettes!

You can also get into regular system administration from here by choosing that menu option, if you just needed to quick look at something and then go back to service.

When you are done with what you are going I believe you will type "exit" at the command prompt, and then you will return to where you were when you first logged in, and I believe you type logout or just "l" to get out and back to the login prompt.

Good luck!
