Hi, I had a problem with the message light always being on even if I did not have mesages and someone suggested that I take ownership of the general mailboxes which I did. All the general mailboxes are now owned by ext 10. This worked and I had no light for three weeks (other than when I had messages). Problem is, it's back. I had a message, deleted it and the light stays on. I've checked to see but all the system mailboxes are empty. Any suggestions?

Also, can I transfer a call to an outside telephone number on a ACS R6?

Thanks in advance.

Still sounds like there is an unhead message in mailbox 9991, 9992, 9993, or 9994. Have you checked them all?

You can assign "remote call forward" to an extension, put the destination number into one of that phone's personal speed dial locations, and forward that phone to the speed dial location. Then when you transfer a caller to the extension, the system grabs another line, places a call to the destination number, and conferences the two lines together for the duration of the call.

If you need to go to various numbers throughout the day, look into adding "Centrex" service to your phone lines via your local telephone company. This would let you receive an incoming call, "flash", dial the destination telephone number, and then "flash" again for a 3-way call, OR hang up to transfer to the outside number. The advantage is now your lines are freed up, and the volume levels for the two parties are normal (not conferenced through the Partner system)

Hi Scott,
Have you downloaded the Partner Admin. software? These odd mailboxes are easier to find with the GUI sometimes. You may also have another "Phantom" mailbox that targets ext 10.

Thanks to all who responded. I never did get to the bottom of it. Ext 10 owned all of the system mailboxes so I just reinitialized each one and the stations without personesl. Eventually the problem stopped. I also took the opportunity to make them answer only. Hopefully that will stop another potential problem.
