Message light (again) "the line is currently in use"

Nupoint 14.1.1.4.01 using Mitai to light the lights.

They have quite a few phones shared between two users (4025s)

The main user gets the calls via the prime DN and the message light of the phone itself gives the message indication.

The secondary user's DN is programmed on a key as a single line, and the MWI is done on a key programmed as a MWI.

The resident tech over there wants to move the secondary user to another phone, but of course there is a message in the person's mailbox and she is on vacation. It is then impossible to delete the key. it says "the line is currently in use"...

I (think) I tried everything I could find in the FAQs. At one point I used the Message Light Test in the Nupoint console to force it on and then off, and now locate feature extension returns no active features (as opposed to message light on that was there initially)... But the light is still on on the key, and the system still won't allow it to be deleted!

You could take a phone. Change its COS to include the voicemail port option ( something like COV E&M voicemail port ) and issue a MWI code off, against the DN of the key. That might clear it although I would think using the message refresh on the Nupoint would have done it.

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.

The Nupoint is set to mitai not dtmf...

Still, I tried to put a phone in permanent DND in the vm HG, then I dialed the MWI off code followed by the ext. # to no avail..

Locate feature ext returns no active feature when the Message Light Test is used, but the light will keep flashing on the key until the ip set is rebooted (!).. Then I can use the superkey on the set to change the key to a speed call, which in turn will let me clear it in the multiline set key form!

Otherwise, even with no active feature and the light off, the system keeps thinking the key is "in use" and won't allow a modification..
 
Forget it most likely that particular DN's issue comes from all the tests we made..

I found the proper procedure:

1-msg is left
2-nupoint lights the MWI key via Mitai
3-the light is turned off via Message Light Test
4-key can be moved

Charles, see the FAQ. The set dialing the MWI control codes must, repeat, must be a member of the voicemail hunt group. It won't work any other way.

Your fix of course is 1 way to do it, but the FAQ points out how to do it easily on a recurring basis.
