We currently have an Avaya Definity s8300 and Audix for voicemail.

I have one specific problem with an extension where his message lamp does not indicate on his phone (4602SW IP).

I have tried re-creating his extension/mailbox and making sure all details are the same as other users.

Messages can be left without a problem however he is not notified at his phone with the LED.

Any ideas?

Try logging in with a different ext, and see if the light works at all? Maybe a problem with the phone itself.

Manually turn on the light using LWC feature access code to see if the light works and is set up in the pbx correctly

On the station screen, make sure that on page 1 "message Lamp Ext" shows the correct station extension.

On page 2, make sure that it says "Audix" in the "Audix Name" field.

And make sure that there are no messages in the mailbox before creating the station. Audix freaks out if there are new messages in the mailbox when the station is created; it can't figure out whether or no to light the light.

When a message is left, and you use the command "stat stat 1234", does it show "Message Waiting: AUDIX"?

Thanks for the info, I know that the phone works ok as it has been swapped over before.

I will give your tips a try Susan.

What is the feature access code to try the light?

I have just done a stat stat on the station and the "Message Waiting" field is blank.

try and remove the subscriber and remove the extension from the definity and re-add them

'the feature access code to try the light' is listed in the 'display feature-access codes' command. I think that it is listed in alphabeticaly order.
Clean the mailbox of messages by logging into the mailbox, then leave a message. Then do 'display activity' for that extension in the Intuity and see if the INtuity tryed to turn on the message.
Make sure the 'switch number' is correct in the INtuity.

I have tried what you said orypecos, and I can't see any difference in the display activity between a working extension and the one that doesnt work. What specifically should I be seeing or not seeing?

The switch number is the same as all the other mailboxes in Audix.

My last thing to try will be removing both the mailbox and extension, however I did only want to do this as a last resort.

Have you swapped ports? I've seen ports that don't light the light sometimes...

Thanks,
CJH

when i get this sometimes you can change the swithch id in the sub page then save the changes and change it back to the orignal switch id. If that does not work avaya might have to do a database rebuild. When was the last time the Audix was rebooted?

The 'display activity' and 'subscriber number' should show were the Intuity tries to light the light. The Intuity will only try to light the light if the Intuity doesn't think it is already lite.
In 10 years of working on Intuitys, I have never seen that removing/reinstallinig the station or subscriber has fixed the problem.

P.S. For the best response to a question, read FAQ222-2244. Also give the type & version of your voice mail & pbx & preview your post to make sure it is complete & understandable. Please answer all questions so that I may have the info to assist you. Leaving a post on how you fixed the problem will also be appreciated.

This is the output I get for display activity after a message was left:

DATE TIME ACTIVITY
02/27/06 16:29 recieved

CA message from unknown extension
message counts: new=2, unopened=0, old=0

Should there be anything else?

Do disp activity again and change the start date back so you can see when the first message was left. There should be a line after it that says "mwi-on". After the user logs in to get messages and all new messages have been handles there will be "mwi-off".

I've just done that, a fair few months, and the mwi-on/off has never been in the log, however other users extensions are.

Sorry I didn't mean other users extensions are in the log, just othger subscribers have mwi-on/off in their logs.

At this point, I would delete the subscriber's mailbox (leave the station alone), then re-add the station, leave a new message, and status both the station & subscriber activity log.

Ok, I've now just removed the subscriber and re-added, check all the logs and they do not really read any different to before.

Have you left a new message for the subscriber?

Yes.

The voicemail name and the name of the user extension on the definity have to match I believe?

Just asking as I dug out some training notes I had that said just that.
