Hi All,

I have an issue with a 5324 phone that will not display the message indicator when it receives a VM.

Now unfortunatley the phone in question is on a customer site many miles away, so I need to try and get an understanding of things to check before I take the trip to site.

Now, I have a feeling the issue lies in the way calls are routing before being sent to VM which is as thus:

When in Nightservice,

external analogue ---> Ext 2012 (Trunk attributes - Non-dial In Trunks Answer Point - Night 1)

Ext 2012 ---> instantly diverted to ring group 1004 (call routing always alternative night 1)

(1004 is a ring group with numerous IP extension in)

If unanswered ---> 7000 (call routing first alternative)

(7000 is the voicemail hunt group)

I hope that makes some sort of sense. The VM itself works fine, if I make a test call, the phones in ring group 1004 will ring immediately and then be passed to VM when unanswered, I can leave a message which is then retreivable inthe 2012 mailbox.

The message indicator did work prior to forwarding to the ring group first, which makes me beleive the issues lies here.

Sorry to waffle on and thanks for your time.

Nope, does not make sense

You cannot route a ring group. I assume you meant overflow

Where do you expect the lamp to flash?

What type of mailbox is 2012

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

What VM we talking about? What software? What type of message waiting?

When a mailbox gets a message, depending on the type of mailbox, the voicemail issues a "mwi on" against the extension number that matches that of the mailbox. In your case that looks like x2012. Not sure why routing to a ring group would change. How do you "instantly divert to ring group 1004" if the call reroute first alternative is to 7000?

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.
