Is there a way to disable/redirect the "messages" button on an IPO system with 5410 phones?

I have some users that are utilizing an external voicemail system, I have a button setup to call the external system and would like to reassign the button (or at least disable it).

Any recomendations?

Thanks all! Kerry

I have not tried this but Have your tried rerouting* 17 to your External VM System ?

Umm anotherprivatebuild !!!

I tried it once with a 4602 phone by redirecting *17 as MrIPO suggested. That does not work.

The only thing I can come up with is create a script in Voicemail Pro (if available) that reroutes the personal voicemail to something else. But by doing that the person will not be able to access his personal voicemailbox; not by the message button on the extention, not by dialing *17.

A guess but worth a try - set the Voicemail Type (System | Voicemail tab) in the IP Office system configuration to Group and the Destination to the group ID used for the lines connected to your external voicemail system.
