We have 8 analog lines and 40 extensions. Sometimes, few extensions get "long distance code required" message when they dial outside. But if they hang up and dial again then the call goes through. I never put any code for long distance calling. Can you please help me to figure out the problem?

I would check with your Telco - it does not sound like a phone system problem.

Like Tom said, if the phone system is letting a call go out (you are hearing a recording from the phone company) It is not the system. The company that handles your long distance has a restriction on what sounds like only 1 phone line.

Agree with the above. You might try accessing each analog line directly (specific key, access code, butt set or whatever), and dialing 1-700-555-4141. With luck, you will find a line that either has no LD carrier, or is totally different from the others. Then, you would be able to report the specific line(s) to the Telco for them to correct.
